The last major on the tennis calendar commences on Monday when the US Open gets underway in New York.
With the draw completed yesterday afternoon, Sam Maxwell Sports Management clients Casey Dellacqua and Matt Ebden have drawn Patricia Mayr-Achleitner and Tobias Kamke respectively.
Seeded for the first time in her career, Dellacqua will play the 85th ranked Austrian, a player she has never faced, despite the pair sharing more than ten years on tour.
A qualifier is a guaranteed second round opponent for the winner after two qualifiers were paired to face each other in the adjacent segment of the draw.
On the men’s side, Ebden’s match against the 78th ranked German will be the second meeting between the two, with Kamke holding a 1-0 advantage after a three set win in 2011 at the Rogers Cup in Montreal.
The winner will play either Albert Montanes or Leonardo Mayer, the Tournament’s 23rd seed, in the second round.
Dellacqua will again team with fellow Australian Ash Barty in the women’s doubles, with the pair hoping to go one better than their 2013 result, which saw them go down in the final 6-7 6-1 6-4 to the top seeds Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci.
Ebden will play with big serving Ivo Karlovic in the men’s doubles.
The draw is yet to be released for either doubles event.
Fellow Sam Maxwell Sports Management Athlete Olivia Rogowska went down yesterday in the second round of qualifying to German Laura Siegemund.
Scores and updates from the US Open, featuring Emageo Group Athletes Casey Dellacqua, Matt Ebden and Olivia Rogowska will be posted on our website, Facebook page, and via the Sam Maxwell Sports Management Twitter Account.
