Lisa Weightman has started her year with a bang, recording the second fastest time of her career and securing an Olympic qualifier for Tokyo at the Osaka Women’s Marathon.
Just 10 days after celebrating her 41st birthday, Weightman ran an impressive 2:26:02 to finish fifth in Osaka on Sunday.
The result moved the triple Olympian into second place among the Australian women who have run the Tokyo 2020 Olympic qualifying time of 2:29:30 ahead of the August Games.
