Joel Paris has been named in an extended Western Australian squad for their Sheffield Shield clash with South Australia at the WACA Ground.
WA take on the Redbacks, starting tomorrow, fresh from their Marsh Cup triumph in Queensland on Tuesday.
WA is sitting third on the Shield standings after four matches and will be chasing their second win of the season against SA.
Paris hasn’t played at Shield level since he injured his hamstring against Tasmania in October, but made a strong return in a Futures League match last week to press his claims.
The left-arm paceman took seven wickets, including 5-44 in the first innings, as he got through almost 30 overs unscathed.
Paris also trialed a shorter run up that proved successful.
Paris was one of three inclusions in the 14-man squad, alongside Cameron Bancroft and Jake Carder.
Liam O’Connor and Josh Philippe made way.
Bancroft’s availability is dependent on Australian selection as the Test team take on Pakistan in Adelaide.
