National champion and Maltese record holder Kevin Moore has been selected as Malta’s flag bearer for the Opening Ceremony at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.
Moore was chosen by the Maltese Olympic Committee earlier today and will walk through Celtic Park with 27 other Maltese athletes competing across nine disciplines.
The 23 year-old is the National record holder for Malta in both the 100m and 200m, lowering his personal best across 200m to 21.04 last month in Geneva.
Moore represented Australia at the start of his career, and was a member of the 4x400m Australian relay team that won gold at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi.
In 2013, he swapped the green and gold for the red and white of his father’s country of birth, where he also lived for six years as a child.
Moore ran the individual 400m for Malta at the 2013 IAAF Moscow World Championships before refocusing to the shorter distances this year.
He is set to compete in the 200m heats next Wednesday 30 July.
Malta is among 71 Commonwealth countries and territories in Glasgow competing in the 20th edition of the Commonwealth Games.
