Kevin Moore has decided to swap the green and gold for the red and white of his father’s country of birth, Malta.
The decision to change allegiance to Malta had been on Moore’s agenda for quite some time.
“I have been thinking about representing Malta for the last 2 years now,” said Moore, who missed selection last year in Australia’s Olympic team.
“My main reasons for the change is to represent my fathers country and the country that I lived in for the first 6 years of my life.
“It was a heartfelt decision. I thought about this decision for quite a long time, therefore it was not a hard decision to make.
“The relationship I have with the Maltese Olympic Committee and Maltese athletes made this transition very smooth, welcoming and exciting.
“The reaction from the athletics community both in Australia and Malta have been really positive.”
