Michael Freiberg was back on the podium on the weekend, finishing second in the Powercor Melbourne to Warrnambool Cycling Classic.
The 262.5km event was claimed by Brendan Johnson (Team CCS Canberra) after 6hr16min, just ahead of ARA Pro Racing Sunshine Coast’s Freiberg in a four-rider sprint to the line.
Mark O’Brien (Inform TM Insight MAKE) finished third ahead of Israel Start-Up Nation Benjamin Perry in fourth.
Freiberg described the race as epic.
“Wet and windy all day, 150km before a break escaped, then the final 5 man move escaped at 95km to go,” Freiberg said via social media.
