Tim David has celebrated a remarkable fifth straight Premier League one-day title with Claremont-Nedlands.
David holds the distinction of having played in all five triumphs, and was a key player in Sunday’s eight-wicket victory over Fremantle at Fletcher Park.
Fremantle won the toss and elected to bat, with Eddie Byrom top-scoring with 38 as they were bowled out for just 97.
A brilliant run out from David ended opener KJ Cookson’s stay after just nine runs.
Claremont-Nedlands veteran Dan Turkich earned Player of the Match honours with figures of 4-21.
David made a quick-fire 13 in the run chase after coming in at three as Tigers captain Nick Hobson steered his side to victory with an unbeaten 47.
“We are all ecstatic for the club to have such a long period of sustained success,” Hobson said. “It has been really rewarding for everyone and a great result.”
Joel Paris, who has played with David in Claremont-Nedlands premierships in past seasons, was playing in WA’s Sheffield Shield clash with South Australia at the Adelaide Oval.
Paris took three key first-innings wickets, conceded just 38 runs from 13 overs in the second innings and contributed valuable runs in the 109-run loss.
