Heading into a huge summer of tennis, Australia’s No.1 player Ash Barty has opened up about how she still leans on former doubles partner Casey Dellacqua.
Barty said Dellacqua remained a big part of her life, even after her retirement earlier this year.
“She can’t shake me off that quickly,” Barty told the West Australian.
“I still bug her a lot with everyday questions, with life questions and obviously she is one of the best tennis brains going around. She has been in every single situation you can be in, gone through adversity and come out at the other end well and truly. If I ever need advice, particularly with tennis, she is my go-to person.”
Dellacqua believes Barty has what it takes to win a grand slam.
“I think we’ve got a lot of years of Ash Barty to look forward to watching,” she said. “People underestimate how hard it is to get to top-20 in the world but then to back it up and achieve that again. She’s been able to do that, so that’s a big tick from me.”
