The Perth Scorchers have won their first Big Bash League title at the WACA tonight, defeating the Hobart Hurricanes by 39 runs.
It was a case of third time lucky for the Scorchers after receiving the runners-up medal to the Sydney Sixers (2012) and Brisbane Heat (2013).
Shaun Marsh set up the win for the Scorchers, hitting an unbeaten 63 to help Perth post a commanding total of 4 for 191.
Semi-final hero Craig Simmons (45 off 36) and Adam Voges (27 off 17) were handy contributors but Mitch Marsh’s 37 off 12, including two fours and four sixes was the stand out. SMSM athlete Nathan Coulter-Nile took guard late on in the piece, finishing unbeaten on 4 not out.
Jason Behrendorff and Brad Hogg took bowling honours with 2 for 24 from 4 overs and 2 for 17 off 4, respectively.
Hobart ended on 7 for 153 as the Scorchers bowlers shut up shop.
