Peers gets Davis Cup call up ahead of Dubai semifinal
Top seed Matt Ebden stood up to his seeding by clinching the Melbourne Park ATP Challenger, defeating sixth-seeded Japanese Tatsuma Ito 6-3, 5-7, 6-3 in the final.
Ebden, currently ranked number 109 in the ATP rankings, served nine aces and converted four break points to tame his 191-ranked counterpart in the title-clash that lasted for an hour and 58 minutes.
As a reward for his title victory, Ebden received 80 ATP rankings points, which will hopefully catapult the Australian inside the Top 100 when the latest ATP rankings are released on Monday.
