Australia has lost a thrilling one-off T20I against India, played at Rajkot overnight.
Having been asked to bat first by Indian captain MS Doni, Australia scored a massive 201 for seven in their 20 overs, with Aaron Finch top-scoring (89 off 52-balls) before Nathan Coulter-Nile chipped in with an unbeaten 12 not out at the end of the innings. Nic Maddinson (34) and Glenn Maxwell (27) had earlier blasted a pair of quickfire knocks.
India had wavered in their reply, Coulter-Nile taking the important wicket of Suresh Raina (19) to reduce India to 50-2. Raina had looked to accelerate with Shikhar Dhawan before the former skied a delivery to Shane Watson at mid-wicket.
India needed a stunning innings, and Yuvraj Singh did what he does best – win limited-overs matches for India.
The graceful left-hander scored an unbeaten 77 from just 35 balls (8×4, 5×6), and in the company of skipper M.S. Dhoni (24 n.o., 21b, 2×4), took India to the target, as the hosts finished on an impressive 202 for four in 19.4 overs for their highest ever T20 international chase.
