National 400m Champion Ben Offereins was last night 7th in the final of the Men’s 400m at the Commonwealth Games.
Despite going in to the final with the quickest time from 2010 of anyone in the field, Offereins was philosophical about his performance at the Games.
“I made a Commonwealth Games final, and I’m happy. I had fun tonight, everything was amazing and the crowd was awesome. This is my first senior individual team, my first time running rounds so I’ve learnt a lot,” Offereins said post race, before adding “plus, we’ve still got the relay to come.”
His last comment reflects Australia’s strength in the impending 4x400m relay that will feature fellow 400m finalists Sean Wroe and Joel Milburn as well as rising star Kevin Moore.
Heats of the relay will be run at 11.30pm AEST tomorrow, Monday 11 October.
