Ben Offereins has run a strong third leg to help Australia to a season-best 3:02.04 in their men’s 4 x 400m heat at the World Athletics Championships in Moscow.
The Australian relay team consisting of Joel Milburn, Tristan Thomas, Sean Wroe and Offereins finished fourth in the first heat behind Great Britain, France and the United States.
The top 3 in each heat progressed automatically to the medal final on Saturday with Australia at risk of not qualifying at the conclusion of the first heat.
Final qualifiers from the second heat included Belgium, the Domincan Republic and Poland but due to their heat running significantly slower than the Australian’s, Australia ended up with the fourth quickest time across both heats and a place in the final on Monday.
