Peers gets Davis Cup call up ahead of Dubai semifinal
Sam Whiteman has played his first Sheffield Shield match in two years, showing his class at the top of the order as a specialist batsman.
It was a heavy defeat for the West Australians against NSW in Sydney, but there was still a bit to like with Whiteman in the runs with 66 from an 148-ball stay in the first innings.
A serious finger injury means Whiteman is not yet ready to take the gloves but he has shown he can still be a strong contributor with the bat with both WA and the Perth Scorchers this summer.
