Peers gets Davis Cup call up ahead of Dubai semifinal
Lisa Weightman has produced a stunning run at the Sunshine Coast Half-Marathon to break the Australian all-comers record.
Weightman also picked up a $25,000 bonus for taking out the half-marathon in Queensland on Sunday.
Weightman turned a 12-second deficit into a 21-second win by the finish.
Weightman ran 1:08:48, taking 12 seconds off the all-comers’ mark she had set on the Gold Coast nine years ago.
“I was chatting to (coach) Dick (Telford) yesterday and we both knew I was going very well over 10km, but we didn’t know how I was going to go over the 21.1km distance,” Weightman told Athletics Australia after the race.
