The Western Australian Cricket Association has officially launched its 2019-20 season with a raft of Team Emageo stars front and center.
More than 200 people came together at Optus Stadium to celebrate what will be a ground-breaking season in the history of WA cricket, with Team Emageo’s Nicole Bolton, Emma King, Chloe Piparo, Jason Behrendorff, Sam Whiteman and Joel Paris all in attendance.
WACA CEO Christina Matthews said it was set to be an exciting summer.
“It’s a massive season for our new-look WA State Teams with the domestic season kicking off next weekend,” Ms Matthews said.
“The Women’s team play two extra games in an extended Women’s National Cricket League campaign and our WA Men’s team gear up for the re-named Marsh One-Day Cup and Marsh Sheffield Shield, which returns to a combined format.
“We also have the WBBL standalone season to look forward to, which will see our women completely own the October/November space.”
Guests also heard from WA Head Coaches Adam Voges and Lisa Keightley on how their teams are shaping up ahead of a big summer.
Bolton spoke about the hopes for the WA women.
“I can’t wait for the season to start,” Bolton said.
“The girls have been working really hard over the last little period and we’ve got some practice matches under our belts so looking forward to getting over to Brisbane and playing against Tasmania and Queensland to see where we’re at.”
