Casey Dellacqua has quickly switched her focus to claiming an elusive ladies doubles grand slam after a disappointing opening singles loss at the US Open.
Dellacqua and partner Yaroslava Shvedova are the tournaments number four seeds and kick off their campaign tonight Australian time.
“I’m definitely pumped and ready for the doubles” the left hander said.
“I’m back ranked in the World’s top ten in doubles and I’ve had a great year playing with Slava.”
It’s a been a whirlwind of success for the pair since teaming up just a few months ago.
The duo have made three finals from six tournaments including a win at the Madrid Open and an appearance in the French Open final.
Another strong performance here in New York, will continue the pairs march towards qualifying for the season ending championships in Singapore.
“We’ve set our minds to achieve that which would be fantastic.
“We’ve only played a handful of tournaments together so any result is good for us.”
Awaiting them in the first round are Darina Gavrilova and Alison Van Uytvanck.
Dellacqua has been a ladies grand slam bridesmaid five times.
Her best performance at Flushing Meadows came in 2013 when she lost the final with then partner Ash Barty.
