Olivia Rogowska has backed up her first round win at the Perth International ITF Pro Circuit event by advancing to the quarter-finals.
Rogowska defeated compatriot Sally Peers for the first time in her career, winning 6-3, 6-3 to book a meeting with another Australian, Tammi Patterson in the last eight.
Rogowska raced to a 2-0 lead in the first set before some untimely forehand errors in the third game allowed Peers to break back. The Australian pair then traded several service breaks before Rogowska was able to break in the eighth game and then hold serve in the ninth game to close out the first set 6-3.
In the second set, Rogowska claimed the ascendency by breaking Peers at 3-3 thanks to some lovely off-forehands from the back of the court.
The Melbournian closed out the match thanks to a string of impressive points on serve, including an excellent ace down the tee. A final break of the Peers serve ensured the second set score line was a repeat of the first, with Rogowska advancing 6-3, 6-3.
