Australia’s Matthew Ebden has worked his way safely into the second round of the Masters 1000 ATP event at Indian Wells.

South-African born Ebden held off Russian Andrey Kuznetsov 6-3, 4-6, 6-4. Ebden now faces Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov in the second round.
