Nathan Coulter-Nile’s T20 franchise Mumbai Indians have beaten Rajasthan Royals by 33 runs in the final of the Champions League Twenty20 at the Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi on Sunday. Coulter-Nile finished with figures of 1-33 from 3 overs in a high scoring match.
A three-wicket over in the 17th over of the Rajasthan Royals’ innings — bowled from Harbhajan Singh — proved to be pivotal in the game that had all the ebbs and flows which was akin to a compelling thriller. At 3-155, and needing 48 to win from 24 deliveries, Rajasthan had a decent chance to pull off an amazing heist.
Harbhajan’s quick three wicket haul had brought Rajasthan captain Rahul Dravid to the crease with the Royals reeling at 6-159. When Dravid was comprehensively bowled by an arrowing Coulter-Nile yorker, the wicket ended a magical career but also dashed the Royals’ hopes of winning the 2013 CLT20.
