Rhys Mainstone has finished fourth in a strong field in the sixth leg of the FINA 10km Marathon Swimming World Cup, taking place in Setúbal, Portugal.
American Charles Peterson led from the early stages of the race, crossing in first ahead of Christian Reichert, Alexander Meiyer and Mainstone.
Mainstone’s performance follows his win in Noumea earlier in the year.
71 swimmers (50 men and 21 women) took the plunge in the calm waters of the Setúbal bay on Saturday.
The last four legs of the FINA/HOSA 10km Marathon Swimming World Cup will include stops in Lac St-Jean and Lac Megantic (Canada), Chun’an (China) and Hong Kong.
