Peers gets Davis Cup call up ahead of Dubai semifinal
Rhys Mainstone has finished fifth in the 1500m freestyle final at the 2014 Australian Swimming Championships.
Mainstone touched the wall in a time of 15:32.23, just under 40 seconds behind winner Mack Horton (14:51.55).
The 23-year-old’s performance at the Sleeman Swimming Centre in Brisbane was 2 seconds quicker than his qualifying heat time of 15:34.86 yesterday.
Mainstone’s attention now turns back to the open water with the final race of the State New Zealand Ocean Swim Series held on Auckland’s North Shore.
The Australian will claim the State New Zealand Ocean Swim title with victory next Saturday after winning both the fourth and fifth race in La Grande and Pilot Bay, respectively.
