Lisa Weightman has won the Victorian 10km road title at the Big V 10 at Flemington Racecourse.
Following her recent selection for the marathon at the London Olympics, Weightman ran impressively to stop the clock at 33:18 ahead of Sophie Barker (34:39) and 1500m runner Melissa Duncan (35:22).
“I had a horrendous year last year, so it’s nice to get out and put on a new uniform and get out among the guys,” Weightman said of representing Melbourne University Athletics Club.
“The club is made up of a great bunch of guys and girls, and (husband) Lachlan and I have really enjoyed the last few seasons training out at the track and the university.”
In preparation to the London Olympic Games, Weightman’s focus now shifts to next month’s Launceston Ten, which will also be this year’s Australian 10km Road Racing Championships.
