Australian Olivia Rogowska has won at the Hobart International for the first time after an impressive 7-6(5) 6-1 win over Romanian Alexandra Cadantu.
“I have had a few wins in qualifying but that was my first main draw, so I’m absolutely stoked,” Rogowska said.
Rogowska was given a wildcard entry into the event last week and has been rewarded with a first round win.
“It was quite funny, I didn’t really want a wildcard because there has been a lot of pressure lately, people talking about how many wildcards I’ve been getting.
“I was really happy to find out I got one but I was really nervous and really happy I managed to calm my nerves and close it out.”
She joins compatriots Casey Dellacqua and Sam Stosur in the second round after both enjoyed first round victories.
Rogowska plays Serbian eighth seed Bojana Jovanovski in the second round on Tuesday.
