Peers gets Davis Cup call up ahead of Dubai semifinal
Matt Ebden’s final grass court tournament before Wimbledon has started with victory over Adrian Mannarino at the ATP event in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands.
Ebden needed three sets to dispatch the Frenchman 6-3 4-6 6-3 in 1 hour and 37 minutes to set up a second round meeting with the tournament’s No. 3 seed Roberto Bautista Agut.
The world No.86 overcame six double faults to win 66 per cent of points on his first serve, saving four from seven break points he faced in the match.
The Australian will pair with Russian Dmitry Tursonov in the doubles tomorrow as they face Andre Begemann and Lukas Rosol in the first round.
Ebden’s Round of 16 singles match is scheduled for Wednesday.
