Australia’s Matthew Ebden will tonight play off for the Commonwealth Games Bronze Medal against fellow Australian and Davis Cup regular, Peter Luczak.
The match will be the second fixture on Court 1, scheduled for 7pm Delhi time (12.30am AEST).
Despite being beaten by top seeded Indian Somdev Devvarman in the semi finals, Ebden has felt privileged to represent Australia at the Commonwealth Games and will use it as motivation to break in to the Davis Cup squad in the near future.
“I’ve been reserve twice for the Davis Cup and I haven’t got yet to play,” Ebden said.
“So, this was the first time I actually represented Australia and got to play.
“For me it was a great highlight this week and I came here to do my best and I think I did that.
“An opportunity like this is unbelievable to play for my country.
“Yesterday that is probably what got me over the line knowing that you’re playing for something bigger than yourself. You just keep fighting extra hard.”
