Peers gets Davis Cup call up ahead of Dubai semifinal
Matt Ebden’s clay court season has ended at the hands of Pablo Cuevas in the first round of Roland Garros.
The 26-year-old Australian struggled to match the Uruguayan’s clay court expertise, bowing out 6-1 6-2 6-3.
Ebden had opportunities in the third set to work his way back into the contest but couldn’t find a way past the impressive Cuevas, who will play 24th seeded Fernando Verdasco in the second round.
Ebden will travel to Nottingham later this week to defend the grass court title he won last year.
