Australian Matt Ebden has beaten American Alex Kuznetsov in comprehensive fashion, 6-2, 6-0, in the singles semi-finals of the Napa Valley Challenger on Saturday.
“It’s important to compete at each point,” Ebden said. “After the first set, I was feeling confident. Once I got a couple breaks in the second set, I was feeling good and it helped me … take the win.”
Ebden will now face another American in the final, Donald Young, after he also won convincingly in the semi-finals, 6-3, 6-2 over Tim Smyczek.
When asked how he felt about being the last man in doubles still standing in the singles draw, Young commented, “Just happy to move onto to the finals. Everyone on the court was a quality player. Looking forward to try to take the title tomorrow.”
