Casey Dellacqua believes Ash Barty’s breakthrough grand slam victory at the French Open won’t be her last.
Speaking to the West Australian after Barty’s stunning Roland Garros triumph, Dellacqua was full of praise for her former doubles partner.
Dellacqua, who was part of Fox Sport’s coverage of the final, said Barty’s achievements to date were already remarkable but she had the game for much more.
“She’s not over-playing, so she’s getting to tournaments ready to play and she knows she can win,” Dellacqua said. “If she can continue to do those things, the world is her oyster. It’s hard to get past her at the baseline. She’s forehand dominant but she’s improved her two-handed backhand out of sight. Then she’s got the slice.
“If you’re looking to hit her off the court, she’s got weaponry on both sides. She’s been serving really well and that’s a massive weapon. At the net, she’s going to come forward. She’s got the all-round game. It’s pretty hard to find a way to beat her. She can win on any surface.”
