On the back of Michael Klinger’s sensation century, Perth Scorchers speedster Jason Behrendorff’s excellent run with the ball continued at the WACA tonight.
Coming off career best figure of 4/22 in Round 1, the left arm quick finished with 2 for 16, built on the back of a sensational three over opening spell of 1/12, which contained twelve dot balls.
Behrendorff’s second over went for six after Matthew Wade latched on to a short one, but the 24 year old got his revenge next over when Wade was hurried and was caught three quarters of the way to the boundary by Harris for 14.
He returned to bowl the 17th over of the innings, taking the wicket of Ben Rohrer, sending the Scorchers star to the top of the Big Bash wicket takers list with six at an average of just seven.
That takes his 2014 total to 74 wickets at the measly average of 20.
The left hander was in it in the field as well with his second catch of the season, holding on to a simple chance off Ashton Agar at deep mid on to dismiss Dwayne Bravo.
The Renegades were never in the match and fell 35 runs short of the Scorchers total of 192.
Scorchers opening batsman Michael Klinger’s hot summer of form continued with 105 not out off just 60 balls.
After Replacing Michael Carberry at the top of the order the former South Australian hit seven fours and four sixes, including one over mid off from the last ball of the innings which brought up his tonne.
He and Michael Harris (53) set the win up with a record opening stand of 103.
The Scorchers move to one win and one loss while the Renegades remain win-less.
