Jason Behrendorff produced one of the best bowling displays of this year’s Big Bash tournament to help the Perth Scorchers claim their second win with a comprehensive 10 wicket win over the Melbourne Renegades last night.
The reigning Domestic Player of the Year finished with 2/14 off his four overs, including the crucial wickets of Chris Gayle and Cameron White in successive deliveries in the 12th over which proved to be the turning point of the match.

With the Renegades batting first and cruising at 0/98 off their first 11 overs, Behrendorff was brought back into the attack to bowl his fourth and final over and his two wickets halted Melbourne’s charge who were on track for 200 plus but finished with 170.
The highlight of his spell was an incredible caught and bowled effort to dismiss White that will go down as one of the catches of the summer.

Playing just his second match after a lay-off with a back injury Behrendorff, has wasted no time rediscovering the form which saw him on the verge of an Australian call-up last summer.
The 25 year-old has now taken four wickets from two games going at an average of five and a half runs an over.
