Emageo Group athlete Ryan Bailie will close out a successful 2014 season when he races at the Noosa Triathlon on Sunday.
Bailie finished 2014 ranked #9 in the ITU World Rankings in a season that saw him run 5th and 7th in the World Triathlon Series events in Auckland and London respectively , fifth in the Commonwealth Games individual race and take home a bronze medal in the Games mixed team relay.
After finishing third in last week’s Nepean Triathlon in Sydney, the 24 year old will be looking to improve on his third from last year’s Noosa race.
“Noosa is a bit different to what we are usually used to (in the ITU World Triathlon series), so having been there last year will be a massive help,” Bailie said.
“You can’t draft in Noosa and we use different bikes up there, but it will be interesting.”
The Noosa course consists of a 1500m swim, followed by an undulating 40km out-and-back cycle before finishing with a flat 10km run.
A quality Australian field has been assembled which includes Bailie’s Wollongong wizards training partner and 2013 Noosa winner Aaron Royle, 2013 runner-up Dan Wilson, 2012 Ironman world championship winner Pete Jacobs and rising star Jacob Birtwhistle.
“I learned a lot from last year and I will be using all that to hopefully get a couple of places higher up the winner’s list this year,” Bailie said.
In a busy weekend of racing with several age group races, the Elite men’s individual race is scheduled for 7.15am AEST time on Sunday.
Race updates will be posted via the Emageo Group Twitter Account.
