West Coast’s inaugural AFLW pre-season has officially begun after an historic open session at Mineral Resources Park last night.
And Fremantle will officially open their 2020 campaign at the Cockburn headquarters tonight as preparations ramp up for their fourth season in the competition.
Star midfielder Kiara Bowers has previously spoken to emageogroup.com about her excitement to get stuck in after a rigorous off-season training program in recent months.
Bowers was looking forward to training alongside the club’s new draftees as well as some established faces at the club.
West Coast forwards coach Michelle Cowan had been eagerly awaiting the official start of pre-season training after building strong relationships at her new club.
Eagles head coach Luke Dwyer spoke yesterday about the strong mix he has on his coaching panel.
“Our coaching group has really good experience,” Dwyer said. “It’s a good blend.
“(We have) Michelle Cowan, who has obviously coached her own team in the AFLW.
“We have some former players at the football club who have been really invested in our program.
“I look forward to working with them even more closely over the pre-season. They’ll be given a lot of structure and responsibility around training and also on game day.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing their own coaching strengths come out as we grow as a coaching group but also with the players.”
