Storm Sanders’ talent has never been in question, but the left-hander’s singles career has so far been cruelled by injuries. The West Australian began playing tennis at the age of six and played her first senior ITF event as a teenager in 2009.
Sanders won her first professional tournament in 2013 and reached her career-high singles ranking of 202 in 2014. Sanders’ doubles ranking peaked in 2017 at 63 following her maiden WTA title in Nottingham. A serious shoulder injury forced a two-year singles hiatus but Sanders returned in emphatic fashion towards the end of this season. She took out the City of Playford International in November in just her second tournament back. Ahead of a big summer of tennis, Sanders is just getting started.
