The bigger the occasion the better for Nina Kennedy. On the podium in senior national titles as a 14-year-old, the rising pole vaulter catapulted to global attention when she broke the junior world record at the Perth Track Classic back in 2015 when she was just 17.
Kennedy made her first senior world championships team later that year. Kennedy qualified for worlds again in 2017 but unfortunately was forced to withdraw with an injury. In 2018, Kennedy found her best again. She raised her personal best to 4.71m to move to three on the all-time Australian list. Kennedy then performed brilliantly on the big stage when she won bronze at the Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast in a strong field.
After shrugging off more injuries issues in the past 12 months, Kennedy is set for a big lead in to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
