Jody Henry

Jody Henry’s family escaped the violence of her birthplace Durban in 1995, moving to Perth to call Australia home. What was South Africa’s loss became Australia’s gain.

Henry began as a short-sprint specialist, before being called upon to help Australia’s 4x400m relay team qualify for the 2009 world championships. After just four runs over the one-lap, Henry helped book the team’s berth at Berlin. The distance stuck and a year later Henry claimed the national title in both the 400m and 200m.

Henry helped the women’s 4x400m relay team to fourth at the 2010 Commonwealth Games before an injury-riddled 2011 stunted the sprinter’s efforts. Henry bounced back but last competed in 2016.
