Emma King

Emma King emerged in a big way to lead the Perth Scorchers into a maiden Women’s Big Bash League final in 2017. Though King is still young, the teacher has been in the WA set up since 2009.

King first came to prominence during the 2013-14 season as the Western Fury’s leading wicket taker. The economical spinner had a taste of it in the first season of WBBL before coming to life the following season, upstaging the likes of Katherine Brunt and Anya Shrubsole as their leading wicket taker and producing a brilliant spell in the semifinal to see Perth through to a maiden decider.

King did it again the very next season with a match-winning 3-17 in the semifinal win over the Sydney Thunder to back up her big-game qualities.

King remains a key member of the Scorchers and Western Australian women’s squads and is looking forward to a summer to remember.
