Sam Whiteman

A classy batsman and stylish wicketkeeper, Sam Whiteman has been a key contributor at the WACA since making his Sheffield Shield debut in November 2012 as a 20-year-old.

Whiteman made a solid progression in his first season at Shield level before starring in WA’s run to the Shield final in 2013-14. He made 687 runs at 45.80 in that season and captured 45 dismissals for the Warriors. He was called up to the Australia A squad in the winter series in 2014 and scored a century against India A.

In 2014, he was part of the Warriors first one-day domestic title since 2003-04. He was outstanding for the Perth Scorchers the BBL06 final in 2017, scoring a blistering 41 off just 21 balls opening the batting to make light work of the winning chase against the Sydney Sixers.

Whiteman is only one of two players, alongside now WA coach Adam Voges, to have played in all three of the Perth Scorchers BBL titles. Complications from a finger injury kept Whiteman out for close to a year but he returned in early 2018 to play an important role for his State in both Shield and BBL. Whiteman boasts three first-class hundreds and 18 50s in 54 matches.
