Warriors paceman Nathan Coulter-Nile has said the state team’s current challenge lies in not “drifting back into the tunnel”.
Coulter-Nile returned prematurely from a stint with the Australia A side – which currently holds a 4-0 lead in the series against England’s second XI – and was forced to watch with a groin injury as the Warriors staged a remarkable two-wicket win over Tasmania at the WACA last weekend.
It was the second consecutive Shield win for WA, after the side toppled then-competition leader Queensland, and has kept the Warriors in the hunt for an unlikely final berth.
The Warriors must continue their winning ways against South Australia, starting next Thursday, and back up in their final Shield fixture against Queensland at the end of the month.
“Every time we see a bit of that light, we seem to drift back into the tunnel,” Coulter-Nile said.
“I remember when Moods (former coach Tom Moody) came here, there was a bit of light, then when Mickey (former coach Mickey Arthur) came here, there was a bit of light.
“Now, JL is here and there’s a bit of light.
“So hopefully we can just keep moving forward this time and not fall back into old habits.”
