Australia’s marathon running super-mum Lisa Weightman has had her place confirmed for the Rio Olympics.

With the Australian Olympic Committee ratifying her selection this morning, Weightman will line up for her third Olympics.

Weightman’s qualifying time of 2:27.35, run at the Houston Marathon in January, was the fastest by any Australian and reaffirmed her spot as the nation’s leading marathon runner, a position she has held since 2008.

Her run in Houston was her first marathon since the birth of her son Pete in December 2014.

Weightman has represented Australia at both the Beijing and London Olympics.

In London, the 37 year-old became just the third Australian to finish in the top 20 at an Olympic marathon, running 17th in a then-PB of 2:27:32.

At the 2013 Melbourne Marathon, Weightman clocked a personal best time of 2:26:05, which sits her fifth all-time in Australia.
