Olivia Rogowska has joined fellow Australians Casey Dellacqua and Sam Stosur in the women’s main draw at Indian Wells after winning her final round qualifying match.
The 22-year-old demonstrated impressive resolve by defeating Melinda Czink in three sets, 6-7(1) 6-3 6-2. After losing the first set in a tie-break, the Australian fought back to claim the next two sets to ensure her name went in to the main draw hat.
Rogowska wins first round of qualifying
Rogowska’s two-and-a-half hour second qualifying match included nine aces, 75 per cent of points won on her first serve, and the creation of 20 break point opportunities.
She will face Croatian wildcard Donna Vekic in the main draw, and should she progress, will come up against 12th seed and reigning Australian Open finalist Dominika Cibulkova.
