Peers gets Davis Cup call up ahead of Dubai semifinal
Sofia Shapatava has snuck past Olivia Rogowska in the third and final round of qualifying in Paris.
After taking the first set 6-3, Rogowska had one foot in the women’s main draw, before a fightbackfrom her Georgian opponent turned the match on its head.
Shapatava stormed back to claim the second set in a tiebreaker, before clinching the decider 6-3.
The Georgian went for broke when the match was on the line in the second set, hitting several winners on crucial points to take the match in to the third set. Rogowska struggled on serve in the decider, ultimately falling to a three set loss.
Rogowska will head to Nottingham later this week to begin her grass court preparation for Wimbledon which starts next month.
