Rhys Mainstone heads to China with one goal, finishing the World Cup season as the number one 10km swimmer in the world.
The West Australian has been the most consistent swimmer on the circuit with four top five finishes.
“I’m looking forward to finishing off the year on a high,” Mainstone said.
“I’m not really feeling any added pressure.
“If I go out and execute my race plan like I have all year, then hopefully the results will take care of themselves.
Mainstone has been impressive all season, highlighted by wins in France and Canada and has the most points for any swimmer in the series.
With 40 points up for grabs in the final two races in China and Hong Kong, Mainstone remains focused on the number one ranking.
“If I can get a good result in China, the pressure will go on the other boys.
“It’s really competitive at the top but my body feels great and I am looking forward to getting to Asia.”
Mainstone flies out of Perth on tomorrow night.
