The small country of Malta was left hailing the brilliance of 400m runner Kevin Moore after he celebrated his third straight win at the Small Nation Games in Iceland over the weekend.
The Australian based athlete led from the outset to blitz his rivals in 47.86 seconds, just over a second outside his personal best.
“I’m really happy to have made it three medals in a row,” Moore said.
“I came here with the sole aim of retaining my title for the third successive edition and I’m proud to have achieved my goal.
“During the race I felt fine and controlled my rivals, so all went very well.”
It was a big weekend for the Emageo athlete with a win in the 200m as well.
The Games of the Small States of Europe take place every two years and includes countries such as Iceland, Luxembourg, Cyprus and Monaco.
