Peers gets Davis Cup call up ahead of Dubai semifinal
Michael Freiberg stole the show at the Chevron Australia Perth International Track Cycling Grand Prix on Saturday night in his first performance on the track since the Commonwealth Games.
The Australian first won bronze in the Men’s 10km Scratch Race earlier in the evening before executing a tactically perfect race in the Points event to take the gold medal.
With reigning World Champion and Commonwealth Games gold medallist, Cameron Meyer billed as the clear pre-race favourite, Freiberg dominated in the early stages of the race and covered all Meyer’s moves to record an impressive victory.
Clearly pleased with the result post-race, Freiberg will now turn his attention to the Australian Road Nationals to be held in early 2011.
