Michael Freiberg joined eight other members of the 2010 Australian Commonwealth Games Team who were last week involved in the “Share the Spirit 2010 Australian Commonwealth Games Team Regional Tour”.
The Tour was presented by the WA Division of the Australian Commonwealth Games Association and supported by the Department of Sport and Recreation’s Country Sport Enrichment Scheme and the Royalties for Regions Program.
The Tour aimed to provide the Great Southern community an opportunity to be inspired by these high profile role models, with the main objective to provide inspiration on issues including a healthy lifestyle, leadership, team work, respect and motivation to achieve goals.
The tour commenced in Albany and progressed to all 11 shires, covering over 900 kilometres of the Great Southern Region. Overall it included visits to and participation in activities at over 30 schools and 16 sporting club and community activities.
This was a unique opportunity for Freiberg and the other Australian Team representatives to promote their sport in the regional community and to also act as positive role models for the youth of the regions they were visiting.
