Matt Ebden has moved through to the last round of US Open qualifying after a three set victory over American Dennis Novikov.
Ranked 60 places higher than Novikov, Ebden proved too strong with a 6-3 6-7 6-2 win.
It’s the second American the West Aussie has knocked out after storming past teenager Michael Mmoh in the first round.
The win sets up a clash with former Aussie turned Brit Brydan Klein, for a place in the main draw.
Despite a higher ranking it won’t be easy for Ebden with Klein impressive in his first two wins, especially his upset over former world number 47, Dusan Lajovic.
If Ebden can get the job done tonight, it will be the third time he has qualified for the main draw at Flushing Meadows.
In 2012 and 2014 he made it through to the 2nd round.
