World #4 Agnieszka Radwanska proved too good for Casey Dellacqua at Wimbledon today, going down 6-4 6-0.
Played on the prestigious Centre Court at the All England Club, Dellacqua rallied from 5-1 down in the first set to get the match back on serve at 5-4.
Radwanska then showed why she was a previous finalist at the Championships, breaking Dellacqua to take the set.
The scoreline was not a reflection of how the second set played out, with Dellacqua forcing Radwanska to play some of her best tennis to close out the match.
Dellacqua was back on court a few hours later with partner Ash Barty, taking on Eugenie Bouchard and Heather Watson in front of a packed crowd on Court 6.
In a closely fought match, the Australian’s closed it out 6-4 7-6(3) to move in to the second round where they will play Kimiko Date-Krumm and Barbora Zahlavova Strycova.
In the Mixed Doubles Dellacqua will partner Jamie Murray, brother of defending Wimbledon Champion Andy. As the tenth seeds, they have been afforded the luxury of a first round bye.
