Emageo Group duo Casey Dellacqua and John Peers have both been have been named as finalists for this year’s prestigious Newcombe Medal.
Dellacqua made the final of both the French and US Opens this year and reached a career high #5 in the world for doubles.
“I’m excited to be nominated for the Medal again,” Dellacqua said.
“There have been some great results by all Australian players this year, and it’s an honour to be nominated.”
Peers also enjoyed a standout year, claiming titles with Jamie Murray in Brisbane and Hamburg in 2015 to go with his appearance at both the Wimbledon and US Open Finals.
Reaching a career high #7 in the world for doubles, the Victorian was equally excited to be nominated for the Medal.
“It’s a great honour to be nominated for the Newcombe Medal. It has been a great year for me and to get nominated for this award is a privilege.”
Also nominated were Sam Stosur, Dylan Alcott, Sam Groth and Thanasi Kokkinakis.
The sixth edition of the Newcombe Medal, Australian Tennis Awards will take place at Crown Palladium in Melbourne on Monday 23 November.
