Peers gets Davis Cup call up ahead of Dubai semifinal
Lisa Corrigan has unfortunately had to withdraw from the 5km Bolt race after suffering a hip-flexor strain in a warm-up.
Corrigan was expected to defend her title which she was in 2009.
A disappointed Corrigan, who had been carrying a back-related niggle for the past few weeks, took the safety-first approach to pull out and hoped the problem was not too serious.
“She (Corrigan) could barely do any run throughs,” said winner Tamsett after the race following her 16 minute 29 second run.
“Sometimes the hardest thing is saying no to a race but it’s better to be safe than sorry.
